Enrolment

Enrolment Criteria

Parents and caregivers of children with disabilities are invited to contact our Principal to discuss their child's eligibility for enrolment at Warracknabeal Special Developmental School and to arrange a personalised tour of the facilities.

Students seeking enrolment must possess an eligibility status as defined by the Department of Education & Training's Program for Students with Disabilities, specifically under the category of Intellectual Disability.

Warracknabeal Special Developmental School accepts enrolments throughout the academic year for students who fulfill the eligibility requirements.

To request an enrolment form, please contact the school on 03 53982564 or through email at warracknabeal.sds@education.vic.gov.au.

Student applications that do not meet the specified criteria will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the regional office, in partnership with the Principal, considering the student's educational and support requirements. Authorisation for enrolment of students who do not fulfill the standard eligibility criteria must be granted by the Regional Director.

Additional Information

Starting School

There are many programs and resources available to help schools meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities. The Department of Education and Training Vic Government website Starting School is a useful source of information.

The Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) gives government schools funding to help them support students with disability and high needs. Warracknabeal Special Developmental School students are required to meet eligibility criteria under PSD to commence enrolment.

Disability Inclusion

The Victorian Government has launched Disability Inclusion, a new reform package for children with disability in Victorian government schools. Visit Disability Inclusion: extra support for children with disability for more information.

During the transition from the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) to Disability Inclusion (DI) updates will be shared with families, processes may change under the new reform but the eligibility criteria for enrolment will remain the same under DI.
